The Case Study of Music Therapy, by Using Theme Chart of Music Appreciation, to Reduce Problematic Behaviors and to Improve Emotion of a Child with ADHD

This study aims at examining the effects of music therapy programs reducing problematic behaviors and emotion of a ADHD child using Theme Chart of music appreciations). The music therapy program was applied to a 7-year old child. The study began from March 13th, 2014 to May 29th, 2014 and each session lasted 50 minutes, once a week. The objectives in study are 1) How much the 12 sessions music therapy can effect ADHD child¡¯s problematic behaviors? 2) How much the 12 sessions music therapy can effect ADHD child¡¯s emotion? 3) Tried to evaluate every session¡¯s music therapy contents, and also change of problematic behaviors and emotions for the qualitative research. To evaluate the objectives used Korea-Child Behavior Checklist (K-CBCL), and emotion. Instruments were applied before and after the sessions, and one follow-up measurement. The results of this study indicated that the music therapy was effective in reducing the problematic behaviors and emotion of the child. In conclusion, the study proved that music therapy program using Theme chart of music appreciations was effective in reducing problematic behaviors and emotion of a ADHD child.
